Students are expected to follow all range rules and obey the three N.R.A. rules of gun safety:
1) ALWAYS keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
2) ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
3) ALWAYS keep firearms unloaded and the actions opened until ready to use.
Each class will have additional safety rules specific to the facility and the level of training being conducted.
In order to maintain a safe learning environment for all students, the rules WILL be strictly enforced up to and including removal of problem students from the firing line or the facility itself without refund.
Our training is open to any law-abiding adult that can legally purchase firearms under local, state and federal law.
We do offer private training courses for minors however they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minors are welcome to attend any lecture, but are generally not allowed into adult shooting courses without pre-course evaluation by the course instructor.
Refunds, Cancellations and Weather
Except in extreme situations, we hold classes rain or shine. If we reschedule a class due to weather or change in instructor availability, students that cannot attend the make-up date can make an appointment for a private make-up session with the instructor. Deposits and tuition payments are non-refundable, but in most cases we convert the student’s payment to tuition credit that can be used for other classes. In some cases, such as N.R.A. courses, deposits are used to purchase materials specific to that course. Once materials are purchased, they cannot be returned or converted back to tuition credit. The materials are kept by Pistol Prowess until the student can attend another session of the course for which the materials are required.
Loaner Guns and Equipment
We have a limited number of loaner guns available. To use our loaner guns, contact us prior to class day. The cost for loaner guns is $15.00 per course. Depending on student preference, students may choose to purchase ammunition from Pistol Prowess or bring their own. Pistol Prowess also has a limited supply of eye and ear protection available to students free of charge or again, they may wish to purchase their own from Pistol Prowess or from some other retailer prior to class day.
Students using Pistol Prowess’ equipment ARE responsible for damage and/or loss of those items.
Since we sometimes use an outdoor range, appropriate clothing is strongly suggested. We suggest athletic shoes (no slick soled boots or dress shoes or sandals), a cap or hat (to deflect spent brass casings), and seasonal items such as raingear, coats, sunscreen (not greasy), sunglasses and bug spray. It is always better to bring items you don’t need than to need something you didn’t bring. Remember this is Houston, Texas…if you don’t like the weather…wait a minute!
Please be on time! A common problem is that students underestimate the driving time or typical Houston traffic to the various facilities and arrive late. Allow an extra 5 to 10 minutes beyond your estimated travel time to the locations.
If you have any questions not answered here, please contact us and we’ll be more than happy to answer them.
